Deere Tracks in the Snow!

So there was snow warnings all week..  I was secretly wishing that it would have snowed on Christmas...
but, when I woke up...  I saw SNOW!!!!!!

I put on my boots and I went running outside with the dogs and was looking around at how beautiful everything was... when I heard..  "mooooooooooooooo" I was thinking.. hmmm that sounded close... all of a sudden Maya is barking and I look towards the back yard.. and Here comes Ben, Jerry and Honey Running towards me.... I couldn't believe they got out..

So I told my little men that we were going back to the barn and I'd feed them...  I headed off towards the calving barn.. and they followed me.. right back to the barn and I feed them..
and Jerry Berry gave me a kiss before I left.

then went off towards the horses in the back pasture...

They were running around and having a good ol' time.

Then I needed to get Hay out to the herd.... and that is where I found deere tracks in the snow...  :)

Ben & Jerry.... and Honey?

So we are driving down the road.... and we are talking about Christmas... and I was told that we had to get my christmas present early.. I said.. what?  and My cowboy said.... we've got to go get Ben and Jerry... I, like a jerk, said "we're going to get ice cream?!?!" (I love me some ben and jerry's ice cream.. half baked baby) he said.. no... Ben & Jerry they are jersey steers...  I was so excited I just can't tell you....

So the next day we drove to Orangeburg...  I had no idea where that was... but, we got there an hour later... and I saw Ben and Jerry.... and a little fella... whom I asked to bring home... it was Honey...

so now we are on our way home with three Jersey steer calves that I have no idea what to do with....

Queen of this trailer park

So being this is an old dairy farm and a major fixer-upper.. we have tons and tons of stuff to fix-up...
or demolish.... like the 3 trailers that were behind our house....

nothing a bobcat, tractor, gasoline and a book of matches can't handle...  :)

Ava

Hmm.. I grew up around horses... never had a cow....  well there is a guy leasing the land from the previous owner and he has cows... most of them are scared and run away... except this one..
I slowly walked up to this black and white cow.. which now I know she is called a black baldy...
she's staring me down like that old saying "a cow looking at a new gate" so I get within like 3 feet of her and I'm staring back... so i put out my hand and touched her...
I was waiting for her to bolt.. but she didn't.. she came closer... So I got to lovin' on her and petting her... and I gave her a name....
I have called her Ava.. I was told she was an "old" cow...

Il Cavallo Ranch

So we had been living in our horse trailer for a while.. a good six months.... but, that's besides the point..
we had looked and looked and looked for a place to buy... and found nothing..
until one day... we drove by an old dairy farm that finally came up for rent...
it was perfect..  250 acres of pasture land.. and sooooo many old barns.. we fell in love... and after a few months of living here.. we bought it...
and after some long deliberation of names.. we decided to call it "Il Cavallo Ranch" which is italian for the horse ranch...

About Me

First off.. I'm from Georgia.. Transplanted to South Carolina..  you know what they say about us Georgia girls right?  Us Georgia girls, we have fire and ice in our blood. We can ride horses, be a debutante, throw left hooks, and drink with the boys, all the while making sweet tea, darlin'...  Now that we have that cleared up.. I'm known as Sweet Tea..
I got me a fancy education down in Atlanta, Georgia.... and headed North of the big city to a little town called Newberry, SC.

 this is me..
my girl Maggie Mae.. who is a good horse... and I'll leave it at that.. I can't stand people that brag on their horses and say how wonderful they are and blah blah... this is Maggie.. She does what I ask.. end of story..

Maya (aka. Papaya, Mallomar, Poopy Puppy and Killer)

So It has been the three of us for a long time..... until one fateful 4th of July party....
a certain tall handsome cowboy from South Carolina caught my attention.....
and this is our puppy named Vegas...
