Tampa

My flight down here to Tampa was a good one.. Kind of weird traveling by myself.. My cowboy decided to go qualify his horse for the AQHA worlds... So he went to Arkansas... I wish I could have qualified my horse too.... It I'm here making a career advancement move...
My seminar starts at 8am this morning..
On my way down here to Tampa, I was siting next to a lady from Jamaica and every time we hit a bump she grabbed my arm..  It was pretty funny... You could obviously tell that she was nervous, so I decided to tell her that since we were sitting on the wing we were in great seats because, if the plane crashed it either hits the front or the tail, and the wing is always preserved...  Somehow I don't think she liked that much.... Well, once landed safe and sound in Tampa, I went to the rental car agency and shopped around.. Went with Avis, because I got a free upgrade to a mid size car for my military Id.  So I told him I wanted something red...  And I asked about a corvette.. And all they had was mustangs.. So I told him about my experience with the mustang and how it rates to my corvettes... And decided to give me a dodge avenger.. Lol... It's red though..
I pull up to the hotel which is only about 20 minutes away from the airport... And holy crap once I got into my room.. It's a studio apartment... I mean complete with kitchen, dinette, refrigerator, stove and dishwasher..  Score!  I also have a little living room which has a chase lounge in it..  I am completely happy with the living quarters here...the bed was quite comfy too.. And smelled of clean bleach hahaha..
I looked around for some place to eat last night and nothing seemed to fancy me so I went to publix..  Now we don't have those up where I live.. I bought boars head hard salami, provolone and some 3 pepper cheese that was absolutely awesome....
Then low and behold in the produce section.... I found something that I love and haven't seen in ages... Arugula! So I grabbed that, a rotisserie chicken, so peanut butter and a bottle of wine.. Now the wine I got was my favorite... A ruffino.. I was shocked they had it.. Me and my bitter chiani's...
Anyways.. I returned to my little studio.. And unloaded everything and set me up a great meal..
If you know me.. You know that I had a high faluting job in New York City when I was in my early early 20s..  And this reminds me of good memories of NYC..
Speaking of NYC.. I have recently been having dreams of New York.. Like running to catch my ferry in the mornings and packing in on the subways... I miss that stupid place sometimes... I'd like to go visit just to reminisce.. It I am afraid I would get all pissed off and hate New York.. Lol..
I better get going to my seminar..

The first of the holidays

The Thanksgiving season started off with me baking pies... Caramel apple pie and pecan pie..

And then I remembered I had Buccia di Sambuca in the bar.. so I made Biscotti cookies :)

Thanksgiving was pretty good..  turkey, ham and fixins.. I ate to much.. as usual.. but, hey.. it's the holidays and we are celebrating turkey and dressing here.. hahah
But, honestly I missed my family.. and my mama's dressing....
After thanksgiving dinner.. there was a lot of lounging around going on... Until my sister-in-law decided we should go black friday shopping....  which I finally agreed to.. and viola... My ma-in-law, sister-in-law and niece loaded up into the car and headed out....
we were real rebellious.. we went to Michael's Craft store.. hahaha
I got some yarn and that was about the extent of our Black Friday shopping experience.. which really wasn't an experience at all...

The next morning I woke up to this..  ->
they were laying on me waiting for me to get up.. and we got up and went shopping for propane..
Someone is supposed to come out to the house to figure out where to put the tank... and all that.. but, the main thing in this story.. is the fact that I'M GETTING A GAS RANGE!!!!!!!!!!!
and some logs in the fireplace.. that we broke open and found a nice little fireplace in there..
but, none-the-less.. I'm excited about getting gas... lol..

This weekend I am going to study Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation on horses, dogs and cats.. I'm thinking this might be a strategic career move.. especially since we rodeo all the time, people always need someone to look at their horse and all...   I leave tomorrow.. and yes.. it's just me..  because my cowboy is heading off to Arkansas instead of with me... he wants to qualify his horse for the AQHA worlds crap.. so he's headed to Arkansas..
other than that..
I have some bad news.. a dear friend of ours was trail riding in the north Georgia mountains.. and she got hurt.. let me explain..the last time we went up there, it's called war woman, we were on some pig trails and I was nervous going up this mountain my horse sioux was on her belly climbing up this hill, while she was sliding down.. it was pretty bad..  so bad that my cowboy and I said we'd never ride that trail again...
but our friends were up there with another couple and they took them back on that trail... well my friends horse tried to get up the hill and fell over backwards on top of her.  she was life flighted to Greenville memorial.  They are from Georgia.. but, that hospital was the closest trauma center... so there is where she was.. she had a subdural hematoma and a subarachnoid hematoma in her left temporal lobe.. it was touchy.. the neurologist said that she wasn't going to wake up for at least a month.. but, by God's graciousness she has started to come to as of yesterday, she doesn't remember the accident or know where she was.. but, things are starting to look up...

Marine Corps Birthday

Saturday Morning we all headed down to Beaufort to attend the 237th Marine Corps Ball.

It is an honor to spend the Marine Corps Birthday with many Marines and their Families.

It starts of with cocktail hours usually "sixteen thirty". Then the formal dinner is served about seventeen thirty.  And after the dinner.. The ceremony began with an invocation then the reading of the birthday message from the commandant of the Marine Corps, and the reading of Gen. John A. Jejeune’s birthday message.

SUBJ/UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS BIRTHDAY MESSAGE 2012//
GENTEXT/REMARKS/1. AS WE PAUSE TO CELEBRATE THE 237TH BIRTHDAY OF OUR CORPS, WE REFLECT ON THE RICH LEGACY OF SERVICE HANDED DOWN TO US, WE RECOMMIT OURSELVES TO THE TASKS AT HAND, AND WE LOOK FORWARD TOWARD A BRIGHT FUTURE IN SERVICE TO OUR COUNTRY.
2. MARINES EXIST TO FIGHT AND WIN OUR NATION'S BATTLES.  WE ARE MOST PROUD OF OUR WELL-EARNED REPUTATION FOR ANSWERING THE CLARION CALL FIRST.  THIS WAS NEVER MORE EVIDENT THAN AT THE EPIC BATTLE OF GUADALCANAL 70 YEARS AGO.  PICKED TO LEAD THE FIRST ALLIED COUNTER-OFFENSIVE OF THE PACIFIC WAR BECAUSE THEY WERE THE "MOST READY," MARINES LANDED ON 7 AUGUST 1942 IN THE SOLOMON ISLANDS.  THEY PERSEVERED THROUGH MONTHS OF UNREMITTING DEPRIVATION AND BITTER COMBAT.  BY THE TIME THE VETERANS OF THE BLUE DIAMOND, THE CACTUS AIR FORCE, OUR LEGENDARY MARINE RAIDERS, AND INITIAL ELEMENTS OF THE FOLLOW-ME DIVISION GATHERED TOGETHER TO RAISE A CANTEEN AND TOAST THE BIRTHDAY OF THEIR BELOVED CORPS SOME THREE MONTHS LATER, THE BATTLE WAS NO LONGER AN ISSUE.  THE SITUATION WAS WELL IN HAND...VICTORY WAS ASSURED.
3. WE CARRY THAT SAME LEGACY OF RESOLUTE COMMITMENT AND VALOR TODAY.  OVER THE PAST YEAR, MARINES HAVE STOOD FIRM IN THE TOUGHEST OF CIRCUMSTANCES AND ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS.  WE'VE TAKEN THE FIGHT TO THE ENEMY IN HELMAND AND TO THE HORN OF AFRICA.  WE'VE MANNED THE RAMPARTS OF BELEAGUERED EMBASSIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA, FOUGHT ALONGSIDE OUR ALLIES THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, WHILE BEHIND THE SCENES, AFLOAT AND ASHORE, OTHER MARINES DID THE PAINSTAKING HARD WORK REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN OUR HIGH LEVELS OF READINESS AND EFFICIENCY.
4. AS WE LOOK TOWARD THE FUTURE, WE KNOW THAT OUR SENTIMENTAL PLACE IN THE HEARTS OF OUR FELLOW AMERICANS AND CRITICAL ROLE IN THE DEFENSE OF OUR WAY OF LIFE ARE ASSURED.  AMERICA HAS ALWAYS WANTED A MARINE CORPS...IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY.  NOW, MORE THAN EVER, AMERICA NEEDS ITS MARINES AS WE CONFRONT A DANGEROUS AND UNPREDICTABLE WORLD.  FACED WITH DIFFICULT DAYS AHEAD, WE WILL CONTINUE TO DRAW STRENGTH FROM OUR RICH HERITAGE AND THE SHARED VALUES OF THE MARINES TO OUR LEFT AND TO OUR RIGHT.  WE KNOW WHO WE ARE...WE KNOW WHAT WE STAND FOR.  AS EVER WE WILL STRIVE TO BE FOUND WORTHY OF THE LEGENDARY TRUST OF OUR FELLOW AMERICANS.
5. I SALUTE THE ENDURING FAITHFULNESS OF THOSE WHO HAVE GONE BEFORE, OF THOSE WHO WEAR OUR CLOTH TODAY, AND OF THE FAMILIES WHO STAND SO RESOLUTELY AT OUR SIDES.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARINES...AND SEMPER FIDELIS.  JAMES F. AMOS, GENERAL, U.S. MARINE CORPS, COMMANDANT OF THE MARINE CORPS.//

After the messages were read, the Marines did a traditional cake cutting ceremony, where the youngest Marine and oldest Marine present share the first piece of cake, signifying the passing of experience and knowledge.

And after that.. we all headed to shed out of our formal attire and to attend to the After party... in which I consumed and saw enough idiot oil being drank to hold a brain cell holocaust.  But all we can say about that the day after is, thank God I'm not puking and I can live to tell the story of another awesome Marine Corp Birthday celebrated with some of the greatest Men and Women I know.

Our country is now in serious and unprecedented trouble... like never before. - Donald Trump

I am deeply saddened to what the country thought was best for it.. some people say that the turn out of people was great and people do care what happens to the country.. and others think that the turn out of people was to keep getting their handouts.. either way.. this country is headed on a economic downward spiral.  and as my cowboy said the quicker we hit rock bottom the quicker we can pull ourselves up..

Oatmeal cookies I made last night

Maya was looking for ingredients on my oatmeal cookies :)

Do your duty in all things.

"Do your duty in all things. You cannot do more, you should never wish to do less" - Robert E. Lee

I hope America wakes up today.. That being said... what  a weekend we had.. more like.. Another wonderful weekend at home...

I made blackberry Jam Friday after work....

Then Saturday I woke up and made Raspberry Jam and a ton of Salsa which I figured would have been hot.. but, it wasn't as hot as i figured.. but, I put like 12 jalapenos in the stuff... I did however, learn that you should use gloves when preparing jalapenos... my fingers burned for HOURS.. nevermind the hours.. it was a day and a half.. I even soaked my fingers in Vinegar....  Sheesh..
It was bad...  but, It didn't relieve the burning.. and I had to sleep in my contacts hahahah.. I didn't want to rub my eyes.. or take the contacts out with jalapeno juice on the fingers...

Then After I was done doing that.. My cowboy and I made a huge Fire pit in the back yard...

I ordered some stuff make it into a cooking pit.. :)

Sunday Night, I made my version of  Gumbo and used the remaining jalapeno's to make my version of a popper.... and boy oh boy where they good :)

And after supper was finished my cowboy and father and I sat around the campfire and ate..

Then I fell asleep at like 8:30 because of the time change.. lol...
Monday was the busiest day I have ever had... I had 30 patients.. I'm behind on E-mails and everything.. but, Today I got to the polls and voted...
Today I have been pretty slammed as well :)
