Horsey Day

This morning, I woke up and fed all the horses, gathered eggs from the chicky-poos and then went for a  ride on Spartan...
he was lazy as all get out today... by the time I got him into a canter I was about give out.. haha..
So I put him up and got out Charly...
Her and I had some figuring each other out to do....  I figured out that you have to rattle her bit all the time to get her to pay attention.. she's like a squirrel on crack... ping over here ping over there bouncing off arena walls and crap.... hmm...
I'm still on the fence about her..
But, last night I went home and my cowboy and I rode the fences..  He rode Cocaine and I rode the streakin' six horse...
and we decided to name him Ragnarok.. Ragnar for short...
Ragnarok is a norse mythology term...  it's a term for like the end of the world...  and being rebuilt..

he was a little disappointed today when I went out into the pasture and got Charly and not him..  but, Tomorrow after his feet are done.. I will ride him and see what he is made of.. :)

horses are like potato chips right?

Cocaine and I
Well,  Friday I went down to Cola with my Mother and her friend, and we found me a pretty dress for the ball.  I was going for red, but there was a black dress that was on sale.. and it was perfect.. so I got that one. :)
Then I got a tie and a shirt to match for Clint.. so we should be looking mighty good for the Ball :)
After that we had dinner then went to the bar.  Where we forgot it was Halloween.. hahah
We rolled up there with our friend Eric and holy crap everyone was dressed up.. haha..  so we sat at the bar, I was the DD.. so the bartender Girls asked me to be a judge of the costumes... holy crap...  one guy had on this big white muscle costume with a long tail... and I kept trying to figure out what he was..... and when he introduced himself on stage.. he said.. he was 'super sperm'  my jaw dropped and I busted out laughing.. that guy got 2nd place...  3rd went to a dead zombie nurse whose outfit was cool, and first place went to a lady pirate... she was classy and not trashy...
The next morning we loaded the horses up and headed to North Carolina for a little jackpot shoot.. and I brought Charly... we had a time..... I'm beginning to just NOT like her at all, I'd shoot 2 balloons and she'd bolt and not turn.. and I had to man handle her... it's either my fault for putting her aside.. or she just sucks... I'm not sure which one is which....  While we were there... I saw my Cowboys other best friend on this horse he bought for his son.. who has not ridden the horse but 4 times.... well they had a big blow up in the arena...  and when everything was said and done, he was pissed at his horse to... (can you tell where I'm going with this?)
Well, we head back to our ranch and Jim and his girlfriend were coming back with us, because he wanted two our or babies and wanted to pic them out...   Sunday morning we all wake up, I made biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon and eggs.... we all ate a big breakfast and headed out to breeding pasture..
beautiful mares... :)

Jim picked out his two babies and we got that settled.. and he was off to go back to Georgia.... and he went into the barn to get his horse... well his son's horse... and he started explaining how he wasn't going to shoot off of him, etc.. and he didn't like him and wanted to sell him... Clint looked at me.. and I looked at him, and he told him to price him.. and he did.... and I said... well let me borrow your horse...
he threw the lead rope at me and kissed me on the forehead and said see you later.....
So I'm standing there with the rope staring at the own grandson of Streakin Six....  Holy crap.... So I may or may not have just bought another horse.... lol...
I put him out in the pasture.. and went and got Maggie....  I'm not sure what the heck I was thinking..
Cocaine working cows
well,  Clint went and got on Cocaine, so he can work cows for the first time, and my Dad got his horse pokey out... and Clint told me to ride streak.. but, I decided that since Maggie was the only horse with cow sense.. that I'd ride her.. we sorted out all these cows to take to the sale, and a few to go to the packin' place and one to slaughter...  Maggie was a rock star.. she even bit a cow that I was trying to move.. it was funny... but, our little 2 year old stallion finally caught on to what we were doing and he just did a great job.. he's a quick learner...  we really think he's going to be a great horse..

After we got that all sorted out and finished, we rode back the long way to the house and Cocaine and Maggie raced up the hill to see if we could get a little bit more speed out of him...  he went a little faster but maggie hit a gear and left him.. :)

We got all the horses untacked and put back up, and I went out to try out the Streakin Six horse.....
I was pretty impressed after I asked him to turn and he turned on a dime gave me back 9 cents and I almost got un-assed out of the saddle...  I was like whoa...
Cocaine resting after shorting some cows...
I'm going to put him in a english saddle and see if he'll jump... he's supposed to have a lot of thoroughbred in him, so, we shall see... I'm liking him but I want to make sure he's going to be the all around I want....

Maggie and I at Worlds!

this would be titled me screaming "heeyah" or "wooohoooo Maggie" hahaha

Amarillo by morning

awesome.. I had all this crap written about texas and it didn't publish... how about that...
Amarillo Morning
that's about the way this morning is going.. I woke up thinking about how much the people in the CMSA suck...  there is a family that can host a week long event of shoots at their own ranch and gain a point advantage over other people..  AND then have your kid win high point in one state and the parent in another state that they don't live in.... that's an unfair advantage...then one guy finishes in the top 10 at worlds, wins his class and then wants to keep his amateur status....  I think I'll just make a whole lot of waves in Houston.... when I get there in a few months...

My flight to Texas was uneventful, thank God.
I got to Amarillo around 10:30.   Then we went straight to the Trailer..

bright and early the next day I went to go check on Maggie and wonder if she was super pissed at me for riding Gracie the past few months and just putting her out to pasture...  I even took her shoes off and told her to just be a horse and hang out..

Maggie telling me good morning
She wasn't as mad as I thought, she was actually pretty happy to see me.. and I tried to win her over just in case with a nice juicy red apple..

We fed the horses and got them all situated and headed over to the arena to see what we were going to do that day...

I then realized I was about 176 in the go order...

So, It was a bunch of hurry up and wait around.....

I went into the arena on Maggie for my first stage and smoked it... then on the second stage... I about dropped my dang gun and missed two balloons and that was the end of it...

I was pissed and bummed out... because when I saw the results I was like 17th.... I was pissed...

So I drowned my sorrows away in mexican food and mexican beer.. and had a great Idea........

yeah... a drunk Idea....

I decided to hang Maggie's saddle with bailing twine on her stall.. hahah....

Friday Morning..  we started out by feeding the horses and then going to the AQHA to change over the papers on all those mares that we bought...

While we were over there.. I ran into Maggie's kin folk in the AQHA hall of fame :)

we mosied on through the AQHA museum and I read a lot about Joe Hancock and all the King blood line.. even saw my father's horse in there the Zippo Pine Bar....
it was neat... but, we had to go over to the head quarters to get the mares registered...
and let me tell you what....  that place is all high security... they were all... why are you here? for what? how many horses?

but, I  must have passed their test and they gave me a badge...
what did they think I was going to do?  put myself in the hall of fame and add more points? hahaah

after a few hours there... I found out I was like 40 people out... so I was in panic mode.. we got back to the arena in record time... and I found Maggie all cleaned up and looking purdy.... I got a good friend named Adrianne :)

and I saddled her up and tried to warm her up real quick and she wanted no part of that.. because we got into a fight in the warm up arena....
so I figured enough was enough.. and I headed over to the big arena...  I was standing in line to go... and there was ice falling from the sky hitting my hat... it was bad...

I was cold.. and Maggie was in a mare mood... we went in there and tore it up... got the fast time to beat :)  then went into the other arena (they moved everything indoors from the covered arena outside since there was like 40mph winds and freezing rain..  so we did great in that arena.. maggie sucked up this barrel and spun around it while I shot 4 balloons around it and the one on top and then headed for the other barrel and back  towards the timer... I was pleased with my pony....

and then Saturday came along... and it was about time to say goodbye to Amarillo....  I did really good Saturday.. but, we left... and I figured I was still in 17th place.... until we crossed over into Oklahoma.. and I got a text message saying that I finished 5th.. and totally got a check :)  so I was 5th at the World Championships with two misses.. :)  I was really proud of Maggie....

well....  fast forward a tank of fuel and I was driving and it was about 3:45am.... and I was 15 miles from Arkansas............ well......... what had happened was... I was doing like 95 at one point.. there was NO ONE on the road... and it's straight and flat.... so I was toting the mail....  I got pulled over.. I really wasn't sure how fast I was going.. but, My cowboy woke up to find us pulling over and asks me what is going on....  I simply replied "we are getting pulled over"  he then proceeds to ask me a whooooole bunch of questions that I really didn't have the answer to....  So the cop rolls up.. I rolled down the window and in my best Scarlet O'hara voice I said.. "well Hey how ya doing tonight?  the cop said he was good and that he needed to see my license.. so I explained it was in the horse trailer.. and he told me to get out and go get it.. so I did... and while we were walking from the truck to the door of the living quarters.. he said "where you going?"  I told him "South Caaaarolinaaa" he asked if I was going home I explained we had been in Amarilla' all week...  etc... he told me I was doing 83 in a 70... so,  I gave him my license and he said he'd be back.. I told him I'd be in the truck.. and I went back to the truck.... to where My cowboy was waiting to ask me how fast I was going I told him 83... he then told me that I was going to get nailed because I drove a corvette and the insurance was going to go up.. and all this... but, the cop came back up to the window and told me to have a great night and drive safe :)

Nice nice fella I tell you....  the way we figure it... He was looking for some drunk cowboys coming from the Rodeo.. and he had little ole me with my southern twang.. ;)

We are home safe and sound and semi-recovered from the looooong 21 hour haul..

The Pennsylvania Strife.........

I'll start with the bad crap... and end on a happy note...
here we go.....
It started off real good this trip I had planned...  until I got to the airport...  my flight was supposed to leave at 1:30, so I was there at 12:30...  then was informed that my flight was delayed about an hour.... then that turned into our flight left at 4:45.. which caused me to miss my connecting flight to Erie.. which was the last one... so I was re-routed.... And instead of my brother and his friends picking me up,  Clint came and got me at a different airport and took me back to the arena..
Let me explain how this trip started off going down hill....
I get through security with no problems and I'm at the airport an hour early.. then I decide to go ahead and get a bottle of water to have with my lunch that I packed... so i walk over to one of those food places and get a bottle of water and take it up to the counter... and this boy behind the counter is smiling all goofy and asks if I'm from Texas....  I refrained from asking him if he was from africa.. but, I was in a good mood, so I told him.. why yes, indeed I was all the way here from Texas.. ON my way to Pennsylvania.. and walked away.... I then am sitting in the terminal waiting.... and I hear an announcement about our plane is delayed leaving Philly and we'd not be on time, but, any connecting flights leaving after 4 will be ok........  So I'm still good....
This is where I'm sitting there.. minding my own business.. and shit started happening....
I open up my sandwich and get out my grapes and started eating.... the guy next to me asks if I'm embarrassed to wear my hat.. I said "no why?" and he replied with "no one else is wearing one" I looked at him and explained I didn't give a shit about what everyone else was doing...

Then a few minutes later he asks if I had running water and electricity in my house.... I looked at him and with the worst redneck accent I could muster up I said why "golly gee mister I just found out they made toilet paper so now I don't have to use corn cobs on my ass anymore"  so he thought that was funny....  and I said.. all y'all north of bristol people are just weird... and took a big bite of my sandwich and looked away....

Soooo. I decide to scroll through my pictures on my phone.. and I got to a picture of Cocaine and I and this jerk sitting next to me says... "oh you look fat in that picture".. I jerked my head around and gave him the 'eat shit and die look' and he says.. maybe it's the pants... So, I said.. where the hell are you from anyways?  and he explains he was from Hershey...  I told him "Oh that explains why you are a fat F*****, maybe you should stop visiting the chocolate park and eat a salad...." so now I'm pissed...
so then this Indian girl sitting on the other side of me sneezed... and he leans over to me and says.. "your supposed to say bless you"  I told him that some people find it offensive.. and he made this whole situation all awkward.. that was about all out of the pennsylvania suffering from cranial rectalitis..

So, while i was waiting in line at the ticket booth to find out that my flight was never going to happen...  some jerkface in a suit told me that he liked my outfit... so I told him "thanks.. I dressed up early for Halloween"... I mean really people...    sometimes... the public is just nuttier than a porta potty at a peanut festival... and that Some days just makes me Madder than a bobcat caught in a piss fire..

But, everything was great when I got picked up at the airport...  Saw my Cowboy, Saw my pretty horse..... and everything was still awesome about 2 stages into the Match...  I smoked my class by 2 seconds on the first stage and about 3 on the next one... and I was making new friends... and having a damn good time.... and Gracie and I made a rollback.... and there is where the situation went south.... something happened in her rear end.. and we hit a barrel.. and I knew something had happened.... she was 3 legged lame, toe walking on her right rear...  I came out of that arena.. and felt just sick to my stomach... I tried to pick her foot up and she about fell over... then I really felt like I was going to puke..
so, I got on Tattoo (Clint's horse) and tried to run the last stage of the day.. and what happened......
we blew up.. like t-totally messed up.. and it was all my fault.. either, he felt my panic inside along with the fact I sent that horse in the arena like a wild woman running from the law.. and it all come undone.. people were yelling crap to me from the side lines.. and this is not one of my professional finer moments.. but, a whole line of beep beep beeps came out along with shut the eff up.. and I screamed at him to calm down and we gained composure... not before I wasn't so sure that he wasn't going to buck me off and leave me in the ground... but, we tried it again and recovered from it... and I got off of him...
and felt the overwhelming fact that... in 4 days.. I was supposed to be in Texas... riding the horse that I have been working on and falling in love with for weeks..... and she's lame.... and I can't ride Tattoo...
and it is the world championships...... I got back to the stall with Gracie and just started crying...
like bad crying.. I felt so horrible that she was hurt... and I'll tell you what... she was happy...  she was a completely different horse from when I first got on her in September.... she was happy, excited, had a purpose and she felt excited to have a job again and pampered on and doted over...
I didn't want her to have to make the trip to Texas and I was trapped because we were 14 hours away from home.. and I had no idea what to do....
So I drowned my sorrows in a sicilian pie, half a stromboli, calamari fritti and a cannoli....

Now for the good....
My brother's best friend in High school Lives in Erie... and he married his high school sweetheart.. and I have not seen either one of them since I was a snot nosed little brat about 22-23 years ago..
My brother was up there visiting and they drove over to the arena, pitched a tent up brought a case of this beer called straub (which is brewed in St. Mary's with spring water) and came over to visit with me....  It was a very happy reunion and I am so happy to have seen them.. they actually are exactly as I remember them to be... we had a blast catching up  :)  we are going to go up there Ice fishing in January, and to the bike rally in July.. I'm excited....

I have the best parents in the world... My dad heard what happened and offered to bring Maggie and meet us somewhere... So we decided after looking at maps, that we'd meet in Virginia around Roanoke... and then we decided I'd just skip my flight... and drive back with My Cowboy, and meet my parents in Virginia... Put Gracie on that trailer and put Maggie on the trailer going to Texas with my cowboy... and then I'd drive back with my parents to South Carolina....

In our travels towards Virginia... we had to go through West Virginia on some country back road to cut across to 81.. and we stopped at this truck stop...
Well,  we roll up in there, and this boy.. no more than about 16, seats us in a booth...
This place looks like it hasn't been renovated since 1960....well, he took one looks and us.. and he says.. to Clint "I like your hat"  I can tell his mood is going downhill fast... so I nudged him and he said "thank you" then the kid says.. "my pappy had one"  I smiled and said "that's great".  then he proceeds to explain that he had one, one time.. and he thought it was the thing to do.. because his pappy always wore one.. but, his kept flopping all over his head..  So I said "did you not have the right size?" and he said with a puzzled look "they come in sizes?" I said "yes, indeed they do"  and he said.. "oh the hat I have on is self sizing" then proceeds to take it off his head and show us the elastic in it....  I smiled and said "isn't that nice"...
holy crap...  then as we are sitting there waiting on our food.... this same boy goes over to this other table and tells them that his wife is pregnant... and asks how old their baby is.. and then asks the guy sitting with the baby in his arms.. if he was the daddy.....
I'm telling you.. you just can't make this crap up..  West Virginia is kinda scary...

I'm home today.. and I've diligently worked on getting Gracie a appointment at the hospital in lexington, KY... this place is who treats the USA olympic equines.... so, I can get some answers there.. and they are not ridiculously expensive... which was encouraging...

I have also had time to think, that Maggie did get me where I am today... and Maybe her 2 months off have revived her.. and Maybe it is her turn to shine and win the worlds...
I'm trying to be optimistic... I love Maggie I truly do... but, Gracie has more heart and dedication to her job than Maggie does..  But, I trust Maggie to do the right thing and take care of me... and it's all in God's hands... I'm just blessed that I had that time with Gracie... and I'm blessed to have Maggie injury free... we will see how it goes... I love them both in very different ways...

The Mares!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Ranch Business and the Autumn Brisket

Last night, I had a long fight with Federal Express... more like Suck express...  the simple minded driver that they had couldn't find my house... the retard missed the oldest and biggest ex-dairy farm on the whole road...   I was pissed because I want my Kindle Paperwhite!  I waited for it to become available.. then had 2 day shipping on the joker.. and the retard couldn't find me....

Anyways.. then I lifted some weights then took charly out for a spin... she is such a sweet heart.. I had her spinning around and I figured out her turns.. and made her go over ground poles until she was lifting her legs up way up in the air...  I'm proud of her...  She will be my #1 after January, once I let Gracie go to have the baby..... I have put in my order for a buckskin with a spotted blanket :)

Well After I rode Charly we went out to check on the previously said mares that I am supposed to keep quiet about... but, got the Okay to now post pictures.. those are coming... I promise... and they are gorgeous...

This morning I woke up.. and made Oatmeal cookies, and then put a brisket in the crock pot..

 The Brisket

boneless beef brisket

small head cabbage  cut into 8 wedges

large sweet potato, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces

large onion, cut into 8 wedges

medium Granny Smith apple, cored and cut into 8 wedges

cans Condensed Cream of Celery Soup

cup water

teaspoons caraway seeds

Place the brisket in a 6-quart slow cooker. Top with the cabbage, sweet potato, onion and apple. Stir the soup, water and caraway seed, if desired, in a small bowl. Pour the soup mixture over the brisket and vegetable mixture.

And as a teaser of pictures to come.. here is my tall handsome Cowboy last night as we were admiring the mares..
