Ala-Bucking-Bama!

We set off to Alabama on Friday, and I'm not going to lie, I really didn't want to go.. I was disheartened by my horses new gate issues.
After about 20 minutes of debating to bring him or not. I put him on the trailer..
So Nutter Butter, Ragnar and Tattoo were the tree amigos on their way to Alabama..
we get there around 8 their time got all unloaded and set up.
The next day, I take Nutter butter out and start warming him up in the big arena and he starts crow hoping on me.. and I'm thinking to myself great.. I'm going to have nutter instead of butter today..
well, after the first stage.. I was so pleased with that horse I could have just spit... and after the first day, I had only missed 2 balloons and was sitting in Ladies Reserve... So, that brings me to the fun shoot that they had after the match.. it was a 3 stage for points match.. and I ran Ragnar....
I cleared the whole alleyway out and told people what my horse had been doing.. and don't you know he hung his head and walked into the arena like he never took a bad step in his life...
I was so happy I about teared up.. but, he was a jerk during the course management... but that was my fault because I had not ridden him all week, due to the ulcer situation.. but, it was ulcers that was his problem...  it felt so good to have my horse back...
but, I also see that he is not as far along as nutter butter in the horsemanship department...
So,  Sunday.. I really wasn't paying attention to where I was in the standing.. until the last stage.. when I looked at the results so far and found out that I was in Ladies Overall...
Nutter Butter and Me after awards
I was shocked and stunned.. thinking that was totally wrong.. and nope I double and triple checked and by god I was in Overall... So the last stage.. I go in there all cautious as to make sure I busted all my balloons.. and I go through the first five a little choppy but got them all, rounded the run down barrel.. and I hear on the loud speaker.. "TARA THE TIMER ISN"T WORKING"  oh crap.. I put my gun up and just coasted down to the end.. and walked right out of the arena.. and loaded my guns back..
Now.. usually when you get a re-ride.. you mess everything up all the hell and back..
but, Nutter butter went back in there and was gaining speed and I guess he was telling me "mama we got this" because he flew through there smooth as Tennessee whiskey and we crossed the timer.. and I looked back to see a clean course.. and that's when it dawned on me that Nutter Butter and I just Won Ladies Overall... now, This was the first Ladies overall I have ever taken... and the first time I have ever shot off of Nutter Butter...
I'm excited :) I think he's going to turn out to be an awesome horse...  I've got some big decisions to make, 1 being who will be my main match horse at Easterns and who will go to Worlds.... I'll worry about that in September.. but for now.. I have two great horses with some big potential :)

On the way home, we stopped in Chattanooga and I figured while I was in Chattanooga to partake in the local food... :)  It was a Alabama State Champion Snack!

Maiden voyage

I got out of work as quick as I could and off I went to the ranch to get on my harley.. I got home and my dad was there on his bike.. I changed my clothes as quick as I could and grabbed my helmet and off we went.. I got a small lecture from my cowboy and off I went.. Drove to Molly's rock again.. Then did some slow work with the bike and decided to go down to the next major road and then when I got to the crossroads I made a right and headed towards town.. We crossed over the interstate and I took a shortcut back up to another road and made a huge loop back to the house..
It was great.. The bike handles like a well trained horse and it's smooth.. I feel real comfortable on it..
My favorite part was smelling the fresh cut grass..

I'm addicted :)
Then that night I was dreaming I was riding and I got a cramp in my calf hahah woke me up from a dead sleep..
I'm in Alabama right now.. With nutter butter as my trusty steed for the weekend.. I have Ragnar here but it's because he's io medicine for a month to get rid of these damned ulcers..

The Harley is Home..

The Harley Dealership called last night and said that my bike was ready :)
Complete with it's new exhaust and little changes I had made..
So we went down and picked it up.. but, I didn't get to ride it because it was rush hour traffic... and Clint didn't think that was a good idea for me drive through it.. so I didn't....
Then we had to go to a cattleman's meeting to which we rode on his bike... so I didn't get to ride it at all..
But, I did put the alligator seat on there....
I'm totally riding tonight.. come hell or high water...
I guess the Harley needs a name... I'll be thinking  on that...

1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon baking powder

In a cup, dissolve the coffee in the vanilla extract.

In one bowl, combine the cocoa, flour, salt and baking powder. In another bowl, whisk the honey, olive oil, egg whites and coffee mixture until well mixed. Then blend in the flour mixture. Spread in the prepared pan.

Bake until a toothpick inserted in the brownies 2 inches from the edge comes out almost clean, 22 to 24 minutes. Cool in the pan on a wire rack, about 2 hours

Harley forty-eight!

So, Friday before we headed off to a competition in North Carolina.. I talked my cowboy into bringing my sportster down to the Harley shop, with the intentions of trading it in..
which we did.. :)

This is what I got :)
I immediately changed the exhaust.. so, I didn't get to pic it up yet... I'm so excited I can't stand it..
but, it will be done about mid-late week....
I already bought an accessory for it.. I got it a new seat.. check this out..

I can't wait to get on this thing..

Well...  aside from that.. we went to NC.. and My big red horse Ragnar.. pitched a bloody fit in the gate again.. so it's not the teeth, or saddle... and then now i'm the talk of North Carolina and Virginia about having the "crazy horse" just great...
But, there was a vet up there and I had an idea he might have ulcers.. and talking with that vet, we seemed to concur that he has ulcers..  so today I ordered 700 bucks worth of medicine for him.. and now we just wait two weeks..

ugh..  I miss Maggie.. I got spoiled with a horse that was tough as nails..

while we were in NC, we went out to eat.. and went to this oyster bar.. and they had this challenge called "shooting the moon".

needless to say... it was oysters, and hot sauce, jalapeño and horse radish over a cracker...
and the challenge said if you ate 4 you got a shirt...
well I ate the 4 of them... it was the horse radish that sucked...
but, I got them all down.. then went into the bathroom and ran my face and tongue under cold water for like 10 minutes.. then proceeded to drink beer after beer to try to put the burning out in my stomach...  and I burned the next day.. it was crazy... but that was after we ate 2 pecks of oysters haha...

I wound up having to Ride Charly this weekend... and I really under estimated her when I rode her the first time.. I Was trying to have another Maggie.. and instead of liking her for the horse she was, I compared her to maggie and there will never be another maggie... so, that's what happened with that...
now she is bred.. and I don't have a horse to ride.. and I'm confused about what i'm going to do about AQHA worlds, and Easterns and everything...  tis a mess

Post Birthday Catch-up and Motorcycles

Last Wednesday was my birthday and Anniversary.. we had a great day...
I got to work and Had all kinds of surprises waiting for me :)
Then Once I got home.. I got one of the most awesomest gifts ever...
I've been wanting a picnic table and that's totally what I got !

It's a Octagon table.. seats 8 people... it's cool a crap...  I had my cowboy make some ribs.. and I made this tangy lime cole slaw.. it was really good!
then one of my patients made me a lemon cake with lemon icing... and we ate that... correction.. I gave like 3 pieces of that away and totally ate the rest of the thing by myself.. hahah
My Parents gave me a sonic gun cleaner.. which is awesome,  I had been going over to my parents house to use theirs every time I was cleaning my guns :)
Then that weekend I went to a Motorcycle Class...
Friday night, I showed up at 6pm.  we had a stand up and tell us why you want to ride.. I'm not big on telling my life story to people.. so I got up and said my name was Tara.. then proceeded to tell them,  I wanted to take this course because We rode the tail of the dragon and I wanted my own scooter after that...
then 12 other people had to tell their life story what they did for a living etc.....
One guy... Retired army sergeant.... was the highlight of the class... the dude didn't know how to shut up...
the first night and break.. he starts talking about horses to me.. I guess I just look like I ride horses.. and more than that.. I guess people just think I automatically want to talk about their horses... which I could care less about..
So he was telling me about how bad ass his tennessee walking horse is...  and how it is good for everything.. blah blah blah diarrhea of the mouth.. and he asks what I have.. and I said Quarter Horses... to which he tells me his walking horse works cows...  I'm not sure if I did a mental eye roll or a real one before I told him I guarantee his stupid walking horse would not get on a cow like my Quarter horse... and he proceeded to tell me he was wrong... and I said whatever.... and walked away....
to which he decides to follow me and talk about motorcycles... I'll give y'all a headsup..  I don't care about crotch rockets..... Just Harley's...   He tells me he has some Yamaha or Kawasaki something or another.. and I'm like.. Oh that's cute.. I have a Screamin' Eagle Road King....
So Bright and early Saturday morning I show up to the "range"  to which I was issued a Honda Rebel.. hahahahahahah... it was cute.. and it was  like a toy.. I could throw that thing all around everywhere... and I was doing good.. there were 3 other girls in that class with me... and they all crashed.. like REALLY crashed their bikes... I was doing good...
Sunday comes along... I was low on sleep and waking up that early to make it to a 7;45 class in the morning which was an hour away was testing my nerves... and so was the army jerk...
the instructor asked for a volunteer and I raised my hand.. then the Army jerk did.. and the instructor said he saw my hand first.. and the army guy said "I want to go first".  So I said pretty loud.. I'm a Marine wife, I'll go first.  the Marines are always first with everything anyway.. and freaking too off and attacked the course they had set up for us....
His winnings
Well I passed my driving test...  I lost 8 points on it.. because I couldn't make a left hand u-turn in the box... I went out of the box 2 times to the left.. but, completely pulled off the right hand u-turn.. what the hell?  I have no idea.. the instructor didn't either.. haha...
so, I made a 100 on my written.. and I have a beginners permit now....
So, I acting all big about this.. go home, well actually I went to my parents house.. and got on my Dad's Roadster... .and completely froze.. it was huge and heavy... so I went home.. and I was sitting there thinking to myself I was a puss.... and that pissed me off... so I got my sportster out and started riding around the yard with it...
so, that night, my cowboy came back from the wounded warrior benefit competition he was at in NC. he went up there to win the handmade knife..  he stated "A Marine needs to win"  so he went up there and took it from those other people..

So Monday after work.... I get this bright Idea that I wanted to take the Harley out on the road...
so we start em up and get to the end of the driveway.. and I completely froze... like white face, sweaty palms.. froze...  Clint told me I looked and I quote "like a dog shitting barbed-wire"........nice.. right...
So Finally I had a little conversation with myself and took off.. real wide turn... and I thought I was going fast... until we reached our destination and I got a schooling/talking to... that I was only doing 45 in a 55 and I'm going to get killed doing that and making wide ass turns like I was making...
so.. at Molly's Rock (a little fishing hole with a parking lot) I practiced taking off from a stop into a turn...  and I was getting Familiar with this 1200cc bike I was on...  On the way home I got up to 55.. which I thought was huge... and then it started to vibrate.... like my hands felt like they were asleep...
when we got home.. I asked about that... and I figured out my bike was old.. its a 97 and its carberated  and has the old suspension.. and newer harley's don't shake like that... so I reckon I need to find me a newer one.. I didn't like that feeling...
but. yesterday when I got home from work.. I was wanting to go for a quick spin.. but. when I got home I noticed the Road King was gone.. and then it dawned on me that My cowboy was at an american legion meeting.. so, I rode my horse instead.. haha

I reckon that is all that's new around here..

Ragnar and I in Georgia

July 4th weekend..

Wednesday Morning..  I got up and decided I was going to go to work early to do some stupid paperwork...  I load up the pups and get ready to get in the truck and I see a trailer in the middle of the driveway...
I'm thinking.. what the hell is this...
so I go back in the house and tell my cowboy about it.. he comes out.. and confirms it was not our trailer.... so then he says call the ranch hand fella.. so I did.. and he said that his truck was gone.. and I was like WHAT? Call the sheriff... well.. he comes over to us.. and we are all standing there and I'm like you need to report your truck stolen.. here's the number.. and he starts stalling.. i'm like.. well.... you did own that truck right? and he says he had taken out a title loan to go to the beach... (insert me rolling my eye and saying freaking really?) you don't go to the beach if you ain't got the money...
well... come to find out they repossessed his truck.. and while they were doing that.. they tore up my 16' gate to the horse pasture...
boy were we pissed..

Well then we went down to Georgia to see what they were up to and to compete with those people..
I really forgot how much the people in that area just suck.
First off. In the email that we got, it said "no saving rv spots and no assigned ones"
So, they were expecting 150+ people, so that meant, get down there as soon as humanly possible to secure yourself a spot..
Therefore; Thursday morning, my cowboy headed off to Georgia, and I was driving down after I got off of work.
he got there and got a spot, and a friend of ours took the spot across from us.
I get down there and there seems to be no problems so far...
until Friday.  It was our anniversary of getting together and we decided to drive up to Helen and have lunch and spend the day doing what we wanted to do.. we got there and had a Great lunch at my favorite german place up there..

I have a lot of great memories of Helen.  I've been there numerous times with my grandparents and my mom and dad.. and it's always been a great time.. there isn't much to do there except eat a drink.  and I went to go see my favorite Norwegian import store.. and it was different.. not the same as it used to be.  so I'm thinking Helen is going downhill a bit.. but, that was Clint's first time there and he enjoyed it...  well we got back to the arena shortly after lunch.. and found out that there was all kinds of drama going on... We were parked in a spot that some fat lady usually takes.. and Jim was parked in a spot that some so called horse trainer usually gets...  and they were both having a bitch fest about people taking their spots... Jim moved his trailer.. I would have told them to shove it.. but. that's just me..  now in our defense.. these people suck, nasty attitudes and poor sportsmanship like conduct while at competitions...
so, the so called horse trainer/lesson guru had the audacity to say that he was going to keep all of us up all night.... well we all took that as a challenge... after all it was our anniversary and we can get rowdy if you need us to..
Georgia is just eat up with the dumb-ass..
so, after most of that calmed down... I went and worked out the horses... we had Ragnar, Nutter butter and Tattoo with us....  and then we made some steaks on the grill and decided to drink enough idiot oil to annoy everyone that was in ear shot of us....
we had a crowd... I can't tell you all the shenanigans but, I can say.... One of them was at 3:am blowing the horn on the freight liner until the air pressure gave out... haha and there were fireworks and hootin' and hollerin' until the wee hours in the morning....
I got up around 7.. and was in the bathroom getting dressed when someone was violently knocking on the trailer door... I was not the one that answered the door, but Clint was told she was making sure we were up, since the noise didn't stop until after 3am....
well, he closed the door and I came out and asked him what/who that was.. and he explained it to me...
we went out side of the trailer and screamed as loud as we could.. and proceeded with the day...
we had a picnic bbq type thing that night and after that was over, we sat there and were as loud as we could be until about 1:30-2am.... and then we started having some more great shenanigan ideas.. and we pulled those off.. then scattered for our trailers...  I really wish I could tell y'all what had happened... but, it was great.. and funny.. I don't care who you are.. hahahah
I then got the idea, since I didn't get a wake up call that morning to go ask where mine was.. and apparently the fat woman didn't know who I was and I completely took her by surprise... which was a slap in the face... she started fidgeting and didn't know what to say.. and I explained that bless her cotton picking heart she was confused and next time she should come over and have a drink..
what a bunch of people...

Zeus stealing hotdogs and hamburgers
Ragnar

Ragnar and I were doing good until the last stage...
then he developed a gate issue...
it stumped me, and everyone...

So when I got him back home, we called the dentist.. and He came out and said his teeth were horrible..
then I saddle fit him for a saddle... and found out  mine was making him sore.. so after 9 different saddles... I'm back to my first western saddle... a cutting saddle.. hahaha

Mexican Squash Casserole

10 cups sliced yellow squash
4oz can of green diced chilies, drained
1 jalapeño diced

2 1/2 cups cheese (I used mexican blend)
1/4 cup of flour
1 jar of chunky salsa
Cilantro

Pre heat oven to 400

Mix squash, chili, jalapeño, 3/4 cup of cheese and salt and pepper in a big bowl, put that In a 13x9 greased baking dish.

Bake covered for 20-30 min.

Spoon salsa over the top, add chopped cilantro, and cheese to the top, bake uncovered for another 15 minutes.

Top with green onion and enjoy

Gotta do something with all the squash that is coming out of the gardens... .. I think this would work for zucchini too..
It was awesome, but I would add ground taco meat to it next time...

Oh, the wild game freezer went out last friday... and I lost all of my venison, turtle stew and turkey stew.. :(
I found the freezer after all of the meat defrosted...

Catching up, but things are on the upswing!

A few weekends ago, or maybe it was last weekend.... the grass needed to be cut and the weeds needed weed-eating.. and so we went to pick up the lawn mower from the shop, because something broke on it... and I saw this walk behind weed-eater.. after oohing and ahhhing over the joker, I finally bought it...  and took that puppy home.. and went to work...
The house was looking great...
So, my in-law family came over and they wanted to grill....  I'm in the kitchen.. making a avocado, quinoa and black bean salad... and I see black smoke out the window.... so I tell my ma-in-law the grill might be on fire.. she goes running outside and my sister-in-law opens the grill cover and all i see is big flames.. I'm like.. OHHHHHH Hell...
i go running outside.. and everyone is just looking at the grill... i'm like... thinking to myself.. how the hell am I not going to get burned on this mofo.... so to which I hear my cowboy yelling from the hot walker in the back yard.... "MOVE IT MOVE IT", and I dove in to save my house from sudden death... hahaha
it wasn't that bad.. but, if my house had vinyl siding on it... the fire department would have come out and been putting out a huge house fire...
So after that fiasco... I hear screams coming out of the guest bathroom.... I go running in there.. to find a HUGE lizard... I mean HUGE... lizard hanging out next to the shower.... So I do the right thing and pick the joker up... and he tried to bite me then dropped his tail.. and I let out the girlies.... "ewwwwwwwweeee" I ever squealed out... ugh...
I threw him outside and told him NEVER come back....
Oh, While I was weed-eating the fence line at the road... my neighbors ranch hand comes over on a 4-wheeler like a bat out of hell... I'm like "whats going on?!?!"  he said.. I'm stuck.. haha.. well I was the only one around.. so I said "what is stuck" and he explained he got the tractor stuck in mud with the bush hog... so I nodded and went to go get our tractor.. so I'm driving down the road and into his pastures.. and I see a tractor way off in the distance... and then I see just how BAD it was stuck.. the dude was trying to mud with it.. the ruts must have been about 3 feet deep... I only saw about a foot and a half of the tractor tire.... So I hooked him up and pulled him out.. then rolled on back to my house to finish the lawn...

That was about all for that weekend...
OHH Wait..
we went to ride the tail of the dragon up at Deal's Gap in Tennessee...
I get there... and we get on this ride.. "the deadliest road in the country" 318 turns in 11 miles...
holy crap.. it was amazing...
Now I'm all motorcycle crazy...

So my dad, get the idea to buy a harley while I was looking for one I wanted to trade in my sportster for.... and We went to go down and pick it up and I see... the most beautiful red shiny Screamin' Eagle.. I have Ever laid my hazel eyes on...
needless to say... the soft tail (pictured above) is gone.. and in it's place... is a Screamin' Eagle edition Road King :)

HOLY CRAP I love this bike...  but. it's not mine... My cowboy claimed it...  I'm looking at a Dyna Low rider.. actually.. but, i'm not sure.. for my birthday I decided to get me some official Motorcycle training.. so two weekends from now.. I'm going to take the course.. I'm thinking of doing all 3 of them, because I heard they are very informative and worth the money.. and I got the guy at the Harley shop to give me my money back when I went to trade in my bike...
I want a red one.. with flames... My sportster is red.. but, Not red enough for me...

Lets see what else has gone on...
I baked some raisin bread and brownies...

and I did that because I got a new stove!!  it's a convection one.. but, I still haven't used the convection thingy yet... it's like.. I don't want to mess up a good thing.. but, i''m going to try it sometime soon..

putting the stove in
The new stove
I finally got my Ragnar back and he got shoes on and he's not gimping from the abscess...  so we went to North Carolina last weekend... and I'll tell you.. it was Awesome... I did some dressage stuff with him the week before we headed out.. and I'll tell you what.. this horse is amazing.. and athletic.. and I think we might have finally gelled..
I'll tell for sure this weekend in Georgia...  now this weekend is our anniversary weekend...  My cowboy and I met at this very same competition all those years back :) I'm excited... and the competition is going to be so big, that My cowboy is leaving thursday morning to get a RV spot and stalls..  and Ill drive down thursday after I get off of work...its only 3 hours away so it ain't that bad...

here are some pictures of Ragnar and I this past weekend... :)

I am completely amazed at How athletic this horse is...   I had one bobble.. and he didn't take off on his right leed.. and that's been a problem.. considering he's a racetrack horse.. they always run in the left leed.. but, this dressage I've been doing with him has REALLY paid off.. :)  in fact.. today I will do it again with him.. so he can go to Ga all tuned up :)

Random Wal-mart Lady

Oh, let me share  a picture of a poco bueno x Mr sun o'lena stud colt that I have at the house..
my cowboy came home with this.. as a ranch vehicle... holy crap.. this thing is cute..  it from europe so it's 5 speed on the left.. and you sit on the right... hahah I love this little thingy

The stall doors are put together in the barn.. which is still slowly coming along..
