SC State Championships

I know it's been a while,.... a Long while... I am going to catch up on it... but, This weekend was the South Carolina State championships... and I won with my mare Lucy :)
It was great...  She really is starting to know the game...
I also brought nutter butter, and he was good... we had a few nutter moments.. but, had some smoking great runs... I however did not use him as my horse to run for the state with...
I don't have many pictures.. but, I did win a blue ribbon..

T Minus 2 days until my flight leaves!!!

I have been scurrying around trying to get everything taken care of before we leave for Italy..
I also got the ok that I was Qualified to run for coroner at the next election..  I'm pretty darn stoked about that...

I also got a wild hair up my butt to try on my wedding dress....

It totally still fits :)  and this all came about because I was doing an autopsy last week and it was a female that was my age... open her up and she had like 4" of adipose tissue before we even got to her viscera.. and I was thinking man.. I can't let myself get like that... then get to her ovaries and find out she had ovarian and uterine cancer and had cirrhosis of her liver already.... So I'm thinking man.. she must have partied non-stop...  then I was completely thinking her lungs were going to be wrecked.. and they weren't, so at least she didn't smoke.... but, she ultimately died of a pulmonary embolism...
So, that being said...  I have been back on a health kick.. I wasn't really off of it.. but, ever since clint got hurt, I haven't been exercising... and its been over 105 degrees everyday.. so I haven't been outside doing normal stuff like I usually am...  and when I'm gone for two weeks, I need to make sure I walk a lot and do some yoga in the mornings...

Next sad thing...  Poor Juan passed away..
I'm not sure how old he was when we rescued him but, he has crossed over the rainbow bridge.. Poor Fella...  I said, at least he enjoyed the last few years of his life..

and I got my barn finished finally.. well it's like 99% done..
Set up the Theraplate so I can rehab some ponies.. and all that is left to be done, is put up the feed buckets and hay racks.. then move in to the tack room :)

And that is about all..
I have two very busy days at work.. and then I'm off like a prom dress to Italy!

Riding on this crazy train!

So, I went to the convention...
I took my mother and my secretary/friend with me.. and we headed out for myrtle beach.. and by the time we hit columbia, we decided we were hungry.. so we stopped at a British pub.. and had a array of food and some black and tans... then decided we needed to go shopping since we had victoria secret's coupons.. so we did that.. then had to stop in belks.. and looked at shoes.. and realized it was about 3.. and we still had like 3ish more hours to drive.. haah.. so off we headed.. we finally made it up to the hotel in North Myrtle beach... threw our stuff down in the suite.. and headed out to calabash, NC to find some seafood...
once we were done up there.. we found a TJMaxx O.o so we needed to stop there.. and then it was like the Gods were smiling down upon us and we found a frozen yogurt place!!!!!
I was so excited.. so we ate yogurt to our hearts content.. and headed back to the hotel....  I went on the balcony and saw this beautiful sight..... There is nothing like the moon and the ocean....  I love the ocean... I just hate the beach...   but Anyways... the next few days were full on convention stuff and our annual banquet.. to which I found out that I had won an award!

I didn't even know I was up for nomination...  I was sitting there talking about getting a job as a Gross Anatomy instructor at the college up the street.. and I heard something.. and I thought for a second... I did that... then I went back to talking.. and then I said.. Wait a minute..I think they are talking about me... :)  So I won young doc of the year!  I was so excited...
after the banquet.. I put that award next to me at the bar.. and us three girls didn't have to pay for any drinks :)

meanwhile back on the farm...  We have 4 babies!  and awaiting 2 more...
I also found  my chickens screaming in the coop.. so I go wandering over there and find a snake...
I called for help.. but no one was around.. I called my cowboy on the phone and I heard it ringing in his truck....  so I bucked up.. and picked the joker up.. went into the house with him and said "I NEED YOUR HELP"
That snake was the same size I was....
So I had Clint go get a pillow case and I put him in it.. and we took him down a logging road and re-homed him..
I was trying to explain he couldn't stay here..
I like my eggs.. and I like my chickens..
and I don't like the likes of him trying to steal my eggs...

I made the mistake of putting this picture on facebook.. and you should have seen all the feathers i ruffled...

comments like "don't kill it", "please tell me you didn't kill a harmles snake", "call me I'll take it"..
I'm like please people... I love snakes... I'm not going to kill the joker.. I just re-homed him...
Facebook annoys me these days...  nothing on there but lips and assholes... kinda like the contents of hot dogs... disgusting crap.. haha

that's about all the big news around here...   The final countdown to Italy has started....  I'm so excited I can't stand it... and I'm starting to have problems sleeping... 12 more days....

I am going to a competition by myself this weekend.. just me and hell bitch...
it's been a while since it's just been me and my horse.. :)

well

what a great turn around shit has made..
I'm going to hit the highlights.. because i'm at a conference with free internet... and I'm going to catch up real fast.. nothing major has really gone on...
But...........
We have had 3 babies born..  :)

And last weekend, we went to a competition.. I competed and My cowboy announced the whole thing..
I had a great time on my new horse.... I mean a really great time.. I'm so proud of her..
we won our class both days...  :) but, before that... we decided that the venue that was having the competition was a little bit small for us to take the tractor trailer into.. so we took the 2 horse bumper pull and went to get a hotel... well... no hotels around for like 20 miles.. we fine one 'lodge" that had accommodations for us.. and we roll up.. and find the sign to the place.. has christmas lights around it.. and we laughed.. then climb the mountain to the lodge.. to see  a room that has a christmas tree in it.. and lights around the windows.. we laughed even harder about that.. being it's almost June and all...
and I roll up into the lobby and get us check in.. and the guy says "Oh Great!!! You are in the Christmas room" so I start laughing and realize he was serious... so I'm all "what?!?!" and he said.. you are staying in our Christmas Room............................... dead silence...................  I said.. "oh"  and he asked if I had a problem with that.. and I explained we weren't anti-american.. we were christians.. and would take the room....

and oh my god.......... the pillow shams had gingerbread men on them and said NOEL.. the comforters on the bed were christmas themed,. not to mention the christmas tree that was in the room...
Oh my god.. this was like the Bates motel.. and we were in room 103............ I texted my parents to let them know I was in east bumble in room number 103.. and wondering if I was about to relieve a scene out of Psyhco.......
Just saying'......

we did take a photo opportunity... while we were in there...
this may just be this year's christmas card.. :)

We came back Sunday.. and I put the horses back in their paddock.. then checked on the "maternity ward" then was walking by the chicken coop and I heard a combination coming out of there.. So I went into the coop and found a snake curled up around an egg... and the hens are in the corner of the coop freaking the hell out... I got out my cell phone and called Clint.. but, I heard his cell phone ringing in the truck.. so I tried yelling for him.. and that was of no luck....
So..... well........ I picked the joker up..
Finally got ahold of my cowboy...and showed him why I was screaming for him... and I put him in a pillow sack.. and we drove him to a login road down the street and let him go..
no snake around my house is going to Terrorize my poor hens and eat the damn eggs... I was pissed..
Just saying'.....

Life has been good around the ranch.. even hammy is feeling it.... :)

The barn is almost completed.. I hung up the sign that my grandfather and I made for my first horse Romeo and hung up a picture of him.... I miss both of them..

And I'm at a convention in Myrtle beach... for continuing education classes,...
and this is the view out of my hotel window..

checking in

Trigger loves the new truck
So, I traded my new corvette in for a GMC yukon.... I was thinking about it.. and we need something big... I know like the semi and the 3500 wasn't big enough.. but, Zeus gets crammed in the back with Trigger and Rollo and Maya rides up front... everyone was just cramped...
I was a little sad.. and almost cried when I was handing over the key-pod to the guy at the dealership... but, now that I have been driving it... I'm really glad I did it...
My 75 should be out of the shop soon... her engine will be bad ass and rebuilt and I'll still love her more than the C6..

We had a HUGE thing happen here in our little town.. we got ourselves a Dunkin Donuts....
it opened up yesterday.. I was all kinds of geeked out over iced coffee yesterday.... so bad that I couldn't go to sleep last night..

This has been a crazy week... Just busy... trying to get all my assignments done for my breeding class.. Today I've recruited my dad to help me finish the tack room in my barn.. and make it into a breeding office... so I'm excited about that.... then I got some high school help to help me finish the inside facing of it... i'm still waiting for the rough cut timber for the stall dividers.. but. I have three stalls that are ready for use...
Zeus and Bells
I'm pretty ready for a vacation.... even a weekend away from people and not having to drive.. I really miss my mornings That I go in late to work..
I haven't even been working out in the mornings.. all I've done for working out is riding horses... Not that, that is a bad thing...
I had to disc up the arena the other day.. it was supposed to rain.. but that never happened..
I tried to hook the pulverizer back onto the tractor but that was posing a big feat so I decided not to try to kill myself lifting that up.. I'll wait for help...
Rollo
Then Sunday I got to go on a LONG bike ride.. it was awesome... I was all rusty at first, when I puled out of the driveway headed towards the gas station.. then I was alright buy the time I pulled out of there... but, the darn battery was dead on the joker... and had to hook it up to the dually for like 10 minutes before it would crank...  and yes that was the fist time I have taken it out since the winter came...
I brought up the last 5 mares that are bred... those are the last group of brood mares we bought from Texas.... I put them up at the house... that way I can keep an eye out on them and maybe help/be there/moral support when they have babies... this has been a horrible birthing year.. and I'm ready for it all to end and start over new next year...
well which has really already started because I put the stallion out with the mares at the beginning of the month.  I think they are a better herd when he is around.. he keeps them all in a tight ship.. that is about all around here...

Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness..

we have had our share of darkness around the ranch the past month...
I have been quite for a while... I've been a introvert lately.. and I haven't wanted to write much on this until I was over it... I was emotional for a few weeks
there has been quite a lot going on around here.
I'll start off with the worst thing that has happened since we were in Texas..
Clint fell off his horse, in Unadilla, GA at our regional competition..
and when I say fall off... I mean he catapulted into the fence...
he lost his stirrup and was leaning to the left.. and the horse turned right.. and he came flying off and knocked out unconscious... and I was sitting on Hell bitch.. whom I recently renamed Lucy..
but, he hit the fence right in front of me... and I remember thinking "oh shit that hurt" then I waited for him to get up.. and He didn't..and I ran Lucy into the arena and saw him lying there unconscious...
I dove onto the ground and stabilized his neck and started trying to talk to him, but he wasn't responding so I slapped him and he started to make that guttural  I just got the wind knocked out of me sound.. and a ems guy showed up and everything went really quick from there... the ambulance got there.. and they made me ride in the front with the fire chief whom had never driven this said ambulance before.. he didn't know where any of the lights or siren buttons were.... and that became my job..   We had a 30 mile drive to Macon Georgia trauma hospital.. which was also a teaching facility..

and it all came down to, he spent about 5 days in the hospital.. he has a fractures collar bone, 3 broken transverse processes, 2 broken ribs and he collapsed his left lung..
He is home and recovering.

I did manage to get a seatbelt ticket on my way to visit him in Macon, GA

Officer jerkface explained to me that the "shoulder harness" was called a shoulder harness because it should go over my shoulder not under my arm...  I gave him some choice words in Italian and decided to speed off...

What else weird has happened...
I found a baby mouse in the house that the cat drug in... it was squealing and going nuts, so I flushed it down the toilet..  then the next morning I woke up because Rollo was watching a tree frog bounce through the house, I got him off the wall and put him back outside...
Not to forget the next day, I was chopping up asparagus and a crow flew into the house..
yes a crow came through the doggie door....

I figured no-one would believe that so I took a pic of him.. hah..
And the next day, my cat came back with a bunny... a little bunny about 5-7 days old.. I tried to save the little fella, but they have 90% chance of survival after getting attacked by a pet cat...
I did have a talk with my cat and told her that I loved her.. and her bringing me random animals was not going to make me love her more... end of story...

Knock on wood I have not had anything else show up..
Clint has been spending a lot of time inside.. and I've been riding a lot of horses.. until It started raining all last week..
I did manage to get Bebe out.. and ride her.. and found out she rounds up real nice..

My posture sicks in that pic.. but, she was doing a nice little trot... :)

Then I got charly up and feeling better after the coyote incident..
she broke bad on me... and Heidi.. was awesome...
so, I'm working on all those horses, plus riding nutter butter and tattoo :)

I'm super excited about Lucy though....  She's going to be something special.. and I can't wait to compete with her this year..

Lucy

that's about it.. I'm doing really well in my breeding class... and keeping positive... everything will look up from here.. I'm glad my cowboy is almost back to himself and making small steps.. like today he got his boots on.. and Sunday he got jeans on :D

That's about it around here....  maybe my next post will be all happy and my unicorns will shit rainbows again..

Texas...

Texas was fun as always....
instead of being in the winners circle.. I was pulling up the rear.. Ragnar had a horrible first run and I pulled some shit out of my ass on the second stage to get me back in the top 15....
and we were just that.. in the 15th hole... so at least we made it back.. and We were the first to go out on the run for the title... and I went out there and we had a good run.. except I blew the barrel wide and i was two far away from two of the run down balloons and that was all I wrote..   I finished 14th overall... which I'm not disappointed in at all... Clint finished 13th...
We did pick up our new baby.. we have named him Houston :) even though he came from an hour out of Ft. Worth...

We did have a great time in houston.. like breaking into our friend's horse trailer and stealing some of his beer... hahah..

We also had a few moments in the bar.. where some of the stuff was too bad to look at.. some was hard to hear and some things needed not to be said.. hahah

But after we got home.. I've just been dragging ass.. 14 hour drive then back to work at 9am.. I've been sleeping about 10 hours a night for a few nights now...
But, Tuesday Morning I rescued some mini donkeys...
I have named them Thelma and Louise..

And yesterday I went to go pick up Hell Bitch "HB" and I amy or may not be in love with that mare.. I wasn't to excited when I rode her at the trainer's house.. but, when I got her home it was a whole different story altogether...

Putting her on the trailer to go home

After I got her home

I also got a speeding ticket doing 64 in a 55 yesterday...  Officer jerk face can go kick rocks one day...
I have a thought in my head that ever cop that is a jerk face to me... will one day get round house kicked in the face by someone.....  it makes me happy to think that....
I was coasting down a pretty big hill with a big ass stock trailer behind me... and he just had to pull me over.. he asked me why i was driving so fast.. I said I was just coasting down the hill.....  which makes him an officer jerk face.... but, when we got up the road further there was like 3 more cops with people pulled over.. so they were just all being jerks...

Roan baby from last year roaming out..

some more bad news

Things were calming down until this morning..
Last night I went on a walk-about.  just me and the dog.. we went to check on the mares and see how the pastures are doing..  everyone seems fine.. Charlie may be the next mare to foal, her hips are supple, she's starting to dilate and she has a quite good amount of milk in her sacks.. so she might be next... but, it's a close draw between her and a few of the blue roan mares...
they are mostly all not having their first rodeo with a baby,, and Charly is a maiden mare, so she's hard to tell...
everything is doing well, with them all... I loved on maggie and the donkeys helped me around the pasture... speaking of donkeys... I may of may not have bought two mini's.. this depends on if my cowboy reads this before I tell him or not.. haha
but, this morning... My cowboy called me.. and told me that our dear friend (and horse trainer) was getting air lifted to a burn unit, because he sustained severe burns trying to save horses out of a burning barn.  He was visiting a very big dressage barn.... unfortunately they lost 2 of their horses and the guy who owns the barn lost 3, one of which was a world champion dressage horse...

But, enough of me being debbie downer two posts in a row!

I am off to Texas tomorrow.. and Ragnar is going to be a bad ass.. and he's going to be ok... I keep telling myself...  Just finish in the top 10.....

a bit of a rut

I would have to say that the past few weeks have been disappointing...
like I've said before.. my unicorns don't always shit rainbows...
and living on a farm... is just heart wrenching sometimes.. but, the happy times far outweigh the bad..
that being said, we have had a bit of a bad streak lately.. and it's always to be expected...
I don't want to get all involved with details, because some of them I would rather not relive..
but, I will say this...
I am not a veterinarian for a reason...
and that being said... I have started a distance learning course on breeding, genetics, pre and post-natal mares, AI and foaling course.. that is 100 credit hours.... and I'm going to be the uber-breeder after it.. hah..

On some good notes.. I think the weather has finally turned around.. which is good because my nerves were about to be shot.. all this rain... it rained for 2 months... and that just killed my mood... I haven't felt like doing anything..

This week is the week before AQHA Worlds.... and Ragnar is having a ulcer flair up... so, he got sent up to North Carolina to get scoped.. and found out he had an ulcer that was covered with botflys.... great.... Iffin y'all remember when I got this horse, I wormed him and he lost his hair and about 250lbs..  but. the vet said this was really odd because the bots were no where else.. just onto of this ulcer in his stomach.. he said worse case scenario is that it's cancer.. and he's never seen what he saw in his stomach ever before.. so who knows..

Clint is on his way to Texas with the horses.. he left Friday... so, 2 days of ulcer meds and Ragnar lost his mind on the 4th course at a competition in Alabama this past weekend..
so, I called AQHA this morning to ask if I could substitute another horse that is qualified by me for the worlds on Thursday.. but, they said no, sorry for your luck...
I'm thinking thanks for that... but, whatever...
So I'm not thinking I will do so well in Texas this year... I do miss maggie... and Maggie is doing great... she went into heat and was trying to get geldings to make babies with her.. so I threw her back in the pen with the stallion for a few days.. and then put her back out with the girls...
but, I'm glad Maggie is happy and healthy :)

I will step onto hell bitch after world's and never shoot off of Ragnar again... I'm thinking I'm wanting to get involved with this western dressage thing... if nothing else, just do it for fun...

That is about it around here...
